Expanding the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
In meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Crown Prince reaffirmed the centrality of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Discussions touched on key sectors—defence, technology, space, connectivity, and people-to-people exchanges. Both sides underlined the need to elevate defence cooperation to the level of their growing economic engagement. “We are eager to work closely on co-development and innovation,” Singh noted, emphasizing the UAE’s role as a crucial partner in India’s strategic ambitions.

Among the most significant outcomes of the visit was the agreement to deepen and formalize collaboration between the Indian and Emirati Coast Guards through a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement lays the groundwork for greater interoperability and real-time coordination in maritime domain awareness.

Significantly, the two sides discussed launching joint defence projects aligned with a shared strategic vision and committed to co-production and joint ventures in line with the “Make in India” and “Make it in the Emirates” initiatives. The economic dimension of the partnership continues to thrive. In 2023, non-oil trade between India and the UAE reached $54.2 billion, with $45.4 billion attributed to Dubai-India trade alone. The Dubai-India Business Forum, held in Mumbai alongside the visit, gathered over 200 business leaders exploring new avenues for collaboration. In 2024, more than 16,000 Indian companies joined the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, bringing the total above 70,000—a testament to the scale and speed of bilateral commercial integration.
